Where your website is hosted
The geographic location of your website can affect your ranking in local search results. The general rule of thumb is for sites wishing to rank for UK visitors to be located in the UK and sites wishing to rank for US visitors to be located in the US. There are hosting companies around that although they are Australian hosting companies have their servers located in say the US. This is because US web hosting is more affordable. The same can be said for the United Kingdom. Image by Attitude gives you the choice of where your website will be hosted, United Kingdom, United States or Australia.
{ question: So how do you know where your site will be hosted before parting with your cash? }
Ask us where the web servers are that we intend hosting your website on. If you want to target users in your own geographic location, then we can move you to servers closer located to your audience.
{ question: not sure where you are currently hosted? }
If you have an IP then a free service such as http://software77.net/cgi-bin/ip-country/geo-ip.pl can tell you where the IP address is located, simply enter the provided IP address in the “Enter Octets or Numeric” box on the right and click Submit.
If you already have a web site hosted somewhere and need to check where it is located and don’t have the IP address you can visit http://www.domaintools.com/ and search on your domain name. This will provide the IP of the server and the geographic location of the server.
